FM Synthesis on DOS

The AdLib Editor is a powerful tool for creating and editing AdLib Tracks. With its terminal-based UI in DOS, it allows fine-tuning of FM synthesis parameters, managing .INS, .SBI, and .S3M files, and now features a sequencer window. Toggle between instruments and the sequencer with Tab, and enjoy playback for .S3M tracks. Stay tuned for more updates!

  1. Extract the downloaded archive to your desired directory.
  2. Run the start.bat file to start the editor.

Features

General

  • Load and save AdLib instrument files (*.INS and *.SBI).
  • Real-time audio preview.
  • User-friendly interface with mouse support.

FM Synthesis Editing

  • Modify parameters like:
    • ADSR Envelopes (Attack, Decay, Sustain, Release).
    • Tremolo and Vibrato effects.
    • Waveforms, Feedback, and more.

Sequencer (v1.1)

  • Toggle between instruments and the sequencer with Tab.
  • Load and Play .S3M tracks
  • Open Instrument Panel and Switch between Instruments with Alt + I

Requirements

  • DOS or a DOSBox environment.
  • Minimum 512 KB of RAM ^^.
  • I included DOSBox in the download file!

Usage

  1. Extract the downloaded archive to your desired directory.
  2. Run the start.bat file to start the editor.
  3. Editor Shortcuts:
    • F3: Open an instrument file.
    • F2: Save the current file.
    • Alt-P: Open the Piano.
    • Tab: Toggle between instruments and sequencer (v1.1).
